Karl Marx 5 D-Mark commemorative coin

This 5 D-Mark commemorative coin was first issued on June 21, 1983 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his death. The picture side is adorned with a portrait of Marx. On the value side, the German federal eagle (national emblem of the Federal Republic) is shown in a slightly modified form. The quote "Truth as reality and power -" from Marx's Theses on Feuerbach" is engraved on the edge of the coin. The designs come from the medalist Erich Ott from Munich. The coin was minted by the Hamburg Mint (mint mark J).

The coin is uncirculated and mounted on a high quality card with a coin holder.

Karl Marx 100 mark banknote

The 100 mark banknote was introduced in 1975 and was the highest denomination in the GDR.
