On the 100th anniversary of his death, the GDR issued a special six-part set of stamps of 10, 20, 35, 50, 70 and 85 pfennigs. The different value levels address different works or phases of Marx's life, with Friedrich Engels and Vladimir Ilyich Lenin also being represented.
The stamps are mint never hinged in a high-quality folding card.

Karl Marx 5 D-Mark commemorative coin

This 5 D-Mark commemorative coin was first issued on June 21, 1983 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his death. The picture side is adorned with a portrait of Marx. On the value side, the German federal eagle (national emblem of the Federal Republic) is shown in a slightly modified form. The quote "Truth as reality and power -" from Marx's Theses on Feuerbach" is engraved on the edge of the coin. The designs come from the medalist Erich Ott from Munich.
